Technology for the Visually Impaired

My story begins 15 years ago when my vision was compromised with an autoimmune disease. I am now legally blind and depend on many visual aids to help keep my life as independent as possible. One of the most important aids that I carry with me at all times is my voice activated flip cell phone. This has enabled me to travel alone and know that if I get in a difficult situation I can call for assistance.

My dilemma now is that the voice activation no longer works on my phone, therefore I need to get a new phone. I have a 3 year contract with Bell Mobility, they no longer carry any simple one touch voice activated phones other than a smart phone that costs $650.00, which is so much more of a phone that I need.

Is there any one out there that can help me find a phone that I can use? The phone needs to be Bell Mobility compatible. The phone I have is a Samsung model SCHR330.

This is one situation where technology and cell phone providers have not considered the needs of the visually impaired. They put their business interests ahead of the handicapped by not allowing handicapped people to purchase a basic phone for their needs.

I would very much appreciate some help.
